The second HISDEMAB collective book, edited by Suaad Al Ghafal and Nora Lafi has just been published (Nirvana Publishing, Tunis). It is entitled (in Arabic): Reflections on the Historicity of Democracy: Libya in the Longue Durée.

On February 7, 2025, Nora Lafi is presenting her reflections on “Conceptualizing Urbanity from the South” as part of the Co2libri seminar, organized by Kai Kresse and Andrea Fleschenberg. During the same session, Robin Schmahl also presents the results of his research on deliberation in Cairo:
On December 18, 2024, HISDEMAB Fellow Elisabeth Kimmerle defended successfully her PhD at Potsdam University. She was awarded Summa cum Laude. The PhD, “Frauen in Bewegung: migrantische Aushandlungsräume des Politischen zwischen West-Berlin und der Turkey (1961-1990)” was prepared as part of the HISDEMAB programme and supervised by Prof. Frank Bösch and Dr. Hab. Nora Lafi.



Nora Lafi participated today in a round-table on Democracy in Global Political Thought and Theory organized by the Democracy Institute of the Central European University and the Review of Democracy. Video here.
